La temporalidad y la precariedad en los contratos continúa marcando el mercado laboral español. El 37,2% de los contratos suscritos en el primer trimestre del año tuvo una duración igual o inferior a un mes, algo más de 1,9 millones de contratos del total de 5,1 millones firmados entre enero y marzo, de acuerdo con los últimos datos publicados por el Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal (SEPE).
Dentro de los contratos de corta duración los más frecuentes son los que no pasan de los 7 días, que suponen el 25,9% del total de la contratación y sumaron en el primer trimestre más de 1,3 millones.
Esta tasa se mantiene en el mismo nivel del año anterior, a pesar de que en el decreto ley del pasado 28 de diciembre para la revalorización de las pensiones se incluyó un incremento de la cuota empresarial por contingencias comunes hasta el 40% (frente al 36% que había hasta el momento) para los contratos con duración efectiva igual o inferior a 5 días, un recargo que está en vigor desde el 1 de enero.
Desde que se iniciara la recuperación del empleo hace cinco años, la proporción de contratos que no duran más de una semana ha subido en algo más de tres puntos, desde el 23,7% de marzo de 2014 al 26,9% de marzo de 2019, mes en el que se firmaron 461.292 contratos iguales o inferiores a 7 días.
Solo en el mes de marzo se firmaron un total de 1,7 millones de contratos, de los que más de 1,5 millones fueron temporales y cerca de 180.000, indefinidos. Casi la mitad de la contratación total del mes de marzo (el 48,5%) la realizaron micropymes y pymes de entre 1 y 25 empleados, en tanto que siete de cada diez contratos se encuadraron en el sector servicios, principalmente en las actividades de la hostelería, el comercio y el transporte.
Los contratados están mayoritariamente en la franja de edad que va de los 20 a los 44 años, tienen estudios secundarios generales y se reparte entre hombres (55,7%) y mujeres (44,3 %).
El flujo de contratación mensual implica que 9 de cada 10 contratos son temporales, si bien del total de asalariados (16,4 millones a cierre de 2018 según la Encuesta de Población Activa) el 73,1% tiene un contrato fijo y el 26,9% tiene uno temporal, lo que permite deducir el encadenamiento de contratos y la elevada rotación que afecta al colectivo de trabajadores temporales.
No obstante, el gabinete económico de CCOO alerta de que la precariedad laboral no tiene que ver solo con los trabajadores temporales sino también con los fijos, ya que la probabilidad de que un contrato indefinido se traduzca en un empleo estable es cada vez menor.
En un informe publicado recientemente, el sindicato concluye que de los 11 millones de contratos indefinidos realizados entre 2012 y 2018, 3,4 millones no llegaron al año de duración y solo 7,6 millones superaron el año.
Según el estudio, a finales de 2018 solo se mantenía el 63% de los contratos indefinidos firmados ese mismo año y el 50% de los firmados en 2017, lo que significa que la mitad de los contratos indefinidos no sigue activo dos años después de ser firmado.
