El socialista Alfonso Martínez justificó la presentación de esta proposición de ley porque la normativa actual está «obsoleta» y data del año 1995. Según denunció, la Región «tiene la mayor densidad de salas de juego, con 368», dijo puntualizando que pedanías murcianas como El Palmar disponen de «tantas salas de juego como hay en toda Barcelona».
Según reprochó al Gobierno regional, se ha convertido a la Región «en el mayor casino de Europa y en una fábrica de generar ludópatas», afirmando que la «inactividad del Gobierno regional ha permitido que se impongan los intereses económicos por encima del interés social y de la salud pública», manifestó al mismo tiempo que pidió al PP y a Ciudadanos que «no vuelvan a torpedear» la propuesta del PSOE para regular el juego en la Región, como se hizo en la pasada legislatura.
El diputado de Podemos Rafael Esteban expuso que el futuro de la juventud «está en juego» y abogó por «limitar los poderes detrás de esa industria porque afecta a los barrios más deprimidos, suplicando las salas de juego y se les incentiva fiscalmente». A su juicio, en el Reglamento de la ley debe tener cabida también el juego ‘online’, que se regule la distancia de salones de juego y centros educativos y sanitarios, parques y jardines, entre otras propuestas. Por contra, el PP les pidió que retiren la proposición de ley, algo que no aceptó el PSOE, y les pidieron que «dejen de frivolizar y de manipular con una cuestión tan sensible». La ‘popular’ Miriam Guardiola incidió en que la Comunidad cuenta con una de las normativas «más protectoras y restrictivas impidiendo que haya máquinas de juego en locales de hostelería». En ese sentido afirmó que el PP está «plenamente sensibilizado» con las consecuencias de la adicción al juego y que está «comprometido sin condiciones en la lucha contra la adicción y la apuesta».
Desde el banco de Ciudadanos, Francisco Álvarez coincidió en la necesidad de regular este tipo de actividades y de sacar adelante una ley en este sentido. No obstante, señaló que su grupo está en un gobierno de coalición, por lo que entienden que debe ser el gobierno el que elabore la ley en un plazo de seis meses «y salve las deficiencias que los servicios jurídicos han establecido sobre la ley del PSOE». Asimismo manifestó que la Administración debe ejercer un «mayor control» sobre el juego y «concienciar» sobre sus riesgos.
Porparte de Vox, María Isabel Campuzano se mostró de acuerdo en la elaboración de una nueva legislación «más adecuada a la realidad», pero considera que esta debe ser de ámbito nacional. Considera que la existencia de distintas regulaciones autonómicas «dificulta su control», por lo que aboga por una de ámbito nacional que sea común para todas las comunidades autónomas. Campuzano propone que desde todos los grupos parlamentarios se inste al Gobierno nacional a estudiar una nueva ley del juego que proteja a la sociedad de los efectos del juego. Su grupo considera que debe ser el gobierno el que elabore la ley.
