El cementerio de La Soledad de Huelva, una de las provincias con más represión en la Guerra Civil, cuenta con, al menos, 1.437 víctimas del franquismo enterradas en fosas comunes, según un estudio realizado por el historiador José María García Márquez y el investigador Miguel Ángel Harriero.
El Salón de Plenos de la Diputación de Huelva ha acogido la presentación de este informe, denominado «Las fosas comunes del cementerio de La Soledad y la represión militar en Huelva (1936-1944)» y elaborado por encargo de la Asociación de Memoria Histórica de la Provincia de Huelva (AMHPH).
Harriero ha explicado que la importancia del informe es que «pone nombre» a unos 1.100 de estos represaliados, aunque faltan otros muchos por identificar.
Frente a los 1.437 ejecutados por el franquismo y arrojados a estas fosas de La Soledad, la represión de la izquierda solo “acabó con la vida de 6 personas en la ciudad de Huelva”, y estas fueron inscritas en el Registro Civil “con sus respectivos nombres y, todos, enterrados en nichos», a excepción de uno, «del que se nos escapa el motivo por el que fuera llevado a la fosa común», asegura el informe.
Estas son las cifras solo del cementerio de La Soledad, en el conjunto de la provincia de Huelva hay detectadas 10.199 víctimas de la represión franquista arrojadas a 126 fosas comunes, según la cifra estimada que aporta el Mapa de Fosas de la Junta de Andalucía.
Son cifras que podrían incluso duplicarse según los historiadores y expertos en la materia, una represión que en esta provincia fue mayoritariamente contra los ciudadanos con ideales de izquierda.
El informe es fruto de un convenio firmado por la AMHPH con el Ayuntamiento de Huelva para reunir y digitalizar cuanta documentación existiera en el Archivo Histórico Municipal, referente a las etapas históricas desde el golpe militar hasta el final de la dictadura franquista.
Todo ello, con el objetivo de encontrar los nombres de los aún desconocidos, conocer el total de los asesinados allí inhumados, localizar con mayor precisión las inhumaciones y exhumaciones y aminorar, en lo posible, los muchos riesgos de errores que aparecen en este tipo de trabajos.
